Well, it has happened. Our little girl is off to school. I woke her up at 7:00 this morning and her first words were: “The sun’s not up…. I need a little more nap.” I picker her up and cradled her in my arms and told her I didn’t want her to get any bigger and that she needed to stay home with me. She responded gently that she needed to get bigger and go to school. We got her dressed in her new uniform. She kept pushing me away and wanted to do it by herself. She put on her new shoes (which I had to go buy last night because she lost the other pair I bought her while playing dress up) went downstairs to eat breakfast.
When we went outside to take more pictures I asked her again if she was sure she didn’t want to stay little and stay home with me to which she promptly and less gently said. “Mom, I told you that I needed to go to school.” She’s killing me now. As we got to school the girls hopped out of the car and we walked in (after stopping to say good morning to Uncle Alfie and headmaster Cain). She entered her classroom with ease. She was a little upset that she wasn’t sitting at a table with her friends which I think is a good thing since she does have a tendency to talk (she gets it from her father). She politely informed her teacher that she already knew how to read. When we left she was up out of her seat talking to her friends at the other table. Little Emma has quite a road ahead of her.
Here are the pictures of Emma’s First Day!
